ITPMG System Architecture
The ITPMG solution is contained on a single platform which runs the following components:
Management Server, End Point Manager (EPM) server and Analytic server. The scalable
architecture enables the EPM and Analytic services to be separated over time to support very large
organizations.
Agent
ITPMG Agent software runs transparently on the end-user's device (End Point - EP), either a
desktop or laptop PC. The Agent continuously measures attributes related to the end-user's
device and delivers this data to the End Point Manager (EPM).
Attributes measured by the Agent:
Dynamic: These include response time, throughput, etc. which are sent continuously to the
EPM.
Static: Static attributes include the OS service pack, DNS in use, etc. These attributes are sent
to the EPM once and are updated only when there is a change.
End Point Manager (EPM)
The EPM manages the interface to the Agents, retrieving and storing Agent measurements. A
single EPM supports many Agents.
The EPM:
Aggregates raw data from the EPs and sends aggregated data to the ITPMG Management server for analysis by ITPMG
Analytic Services:
....· Gathers the status information about the Agents
....· Updates EPM and Agent configurations and identifies disconnected Agents
Analytic Services
ITPMG Analytic Services delivers Performance Intelligence - data that is easy to interpret and act on according to true
business priorities.
Analytic Services includes:
....· Creation of normal behavior baselines
....· Initiation of problem detection process
....· End-User group generation
....· Probable cause analysis
Management Services
ITPMG Management Services includes all services provided by the central unit, including external interfaces, UI and
other internal management services.
The ITPMG Management UI
The management UI provides the interface for IT operations people to interact with the system. The interface supports
multiple users and provides the information necessary to help IT operations manage end-user application performance
problems.
The primary analysis view provides detailed information about the performance problems that affect end-users. The view
provides IT operations with an understanding of the following:
....· What caused the system to alert?
....· Who is affected by the performance problem
The system automatically delivers a set of probable causes, enabling fast resolution.
